More than 50 HR professionals of Doha, Qatar benefitted from the recently concluded Middle East Management Centre’s (MEMC) Roundtable and Conference on Developing Leadership Capital. It was held at W Doha Hotel & Residences on 29 April 2009.

The roundtable provided an interactive discussion on agreed model that maximizes HR strategic impact in turbulent times, which can be addressed by the HR professionals while wearing different hats such as “Courageous Leader,” “Trusted Advisor,” and “Value Creator.” The open and constructive exchange of best practices between the high level HR executives and MEMC encouraged establishing a Best Practice Sharing Group in Doha that will be sustained with several meetings in the coming months.

Meanwhile, the conference that was held in the afternoon also provided a successful venue for sharing experiences on key issues related to Developing Leadership Capital. “The different solutions provided by the conference are appropriate to different organizations as well as the issues are relevant,” commented by Samantha Baydur of RASGAS.

HR Manager of Qatar Building Company Edward Klat was grateful to attend the straightforward conference and looks forward to more informative and similar open discussion on different topics in the future. This comment was shared by Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation’s Senior Organization Development Analyst Aqueel Ahmed who said: “I hope MEMC will continue with such events on the latest subjects, as the presentation and relevance of the event were very good.”

MEMC’s best practices on leadership development had been shared to company leaders of telecom, oil and petrochemical, airlines, transport including medical, banking & finance and government institutions by UK-based MEMC’s Senior International Consultant Chris Leek and MEMC’s Managing Director and International Consultant Alper Utku of Turkey.

The direction provided by the event will guide the leaders to sustain their growth and outperform others in the midst of the crisis in global economy.
